SIGA Journal of Geostrategic Affairs

SIGA-JGA (SIGA Journal of Geostrategic Affairs) is the flagship bi-annual publication of the SIGA Centre, Melbourne, Australia dedicated to advancing informed discourse on international relations, defence strategy, and cognitive warfare, with a special focus on the Indo-Pacific region. Rooted in Indian wisdom and global strategic insight, the journal brings together scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to present well-researched articles, policy analyses, and expert commentaries that shape the future of security and diplomacy in a rapidly evolving world.

Editorial

A thought-provoking opening by the editorial board, setting the thematic tone of the issue and highlighting emerging debates in geostrategy, diplomacy, and defence.


Peer-Reviewed Research Papers

In-depth, scholarly articles rigorously reviewed by domain experts, offering original research, analysis, and frameworks across international relations, security studies, and strategy.


Policy Perspectives

Concise yet impactful pieces from policymakers, diplomats, and analysts presenting informed opinions, strategic recommendations, and policy critiques on contemporary global challenges.


Regional/Indo-Pacific Briefs

Focused briefs that decode geopolitical trends, diplomatic moves, and strategic shifts across the Indo-Pacific and surrounding regions, with emphasis on emerging power dynamics.


Cognitive & Information Warfare Insights

Essays exploring the evolving nature of warfare in the information age, covering themes such as perception management, narrative dominance, cyber influence, and psychological operations.


Guest Column / Interview

Exclusive conversations or opinion columns from renowned voices in global strategy, defence, academia, or statecraft, offering rare insights and first-hand reflections.


Book/Report Reviews

Critical evaluations of recent publications, strategic documents, and defence white papers, helping readers stay informed about important thought leadership and trends.


CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS


General Guidelines


  • Language: Submissions must be in English, written in a clear, academic tone.

  • Originality: Articles must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.

  • Plagiarism: All submissions will be checked for plagiarism. SIGA maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy.

  • Formatting: Use Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 spacing. Submissions should be in .doc/.docx format.

  • LAST DATE FOR SUBMISSION - 30th September, 2025



Section-wise Guidelines


1. Editorial

  • Invited only by the editorial board.

  • Thought leadership piece (600–900 words) on the journal theme or a pressing issue.


2. Peer-Reviewed Research Papers

  • Length: 3,500 – 7,000 words (excluding references).

  • Must include:

    • Abstract (150–250 words)

    • Keywords (5–7)

    • Structured sections (Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Analysis, Conclusion)

  • APA 7th Edition citation style accepted


3. Policy Perspectives

  • Length: 1,000 – 2,500 words.

  • Style: Action-oriented, analytical, and accessible to decision-makers.

  • May include strategic recommendations, critique of policy directions, or new frameworks.


4. Regional / Indo-Pacific Briefs

  • Length: 800 – 1,500 words.

  • Focus: Recent developments in the Indo-Pacific, Australia-India relations, strategic alliances, maritime security, etc.

  • Must be timely and evidence-backed.


5. Cognitive & Information Warfare Insights

  • Length: 1,200 – 3,000 words.

  • Themes: Cyber-psychology, perception management, strategic narratives, disinformation, psychological ops.

  • Can include case studies or scenario-based analysis.


6. Guest Column / Interview

  • Length: 800 – 1,500 words.

  • Format: First-person commentary or Q&A interview.

  • Contributors should be thought leaders, practitioners, or senior scholars.


7. Book / Report Reviews

  • Length: 600 – 1,000 words.

  • Content: Summary, critical analysis, relevance to SIGA’s themes.

  • Priority will be given to reviews of:

    • Strategic publications

    • Defence white papers

    • Books on diplomacy, security, Indian strategic thought, or global affairs

  • Send submissions to submissions@sigacentre.org

  • Subject Line: Submission – [Section Name] – [Author Last Name]

  • Attach a short bio (100 words) and photo.

  • Co-authorship is permitted; all authors must be credited.

  • Turnaround time for review: 2–4 weeks.



PUBLISHING TERMS


  • Authors retain copyright.

  • SIGA reserves the right to edit for clarity and formatting.

  • If your submission is not found suitable for the SIGA Journal of Geostrategic Affairs, then it could be selected for SIGA Articles, as Occasional Paper, or SIGA Digest and may be featured in other ways.

  • You will hear from us if your submissions is suitable or not in 2-4 weeks time.
